Here are some Functions about the roots.

Functions of Root:

  • Roots hold the plant so that the plant doesn’t fall over.
  • Roots absorb water and nutrients from the soil and provide it to other parts of the plant like stem.
  • Some roots also store extra food for future use. For example carrot is a root and it stores food.

Stem:

Stem is the second part of a plant. See the picture below to see how a stem looks like.

Here are some functions of stem.

Functions of Stem:

  • A stem holds a plant upright towards the sun, so that the plant can get sunlight to make food for the plant.
  • A stem holds flowers, leaves or fruit on the plant.
  • Stem has tubes inside it. These tubes transport food and water to other parts of the plant.

Leaf:

Leaf is the third part of a plant. See the picture below to see how a leaf looks like.

Functions of Leaf:

  • Leaves catch light to make food for the plant through the process of photosynthesis.
  • There are tiny openings in leaves called stomata. Stomata let the air come and go through the leaf.
  • Leaf also contains tubes. These tubes carry food and water to the rest of the plant.

Flower:

Lastly here is a picture of a beautiful flower.

Functions of flowers:

  • Flowers make seeds.
  • The petals of the flowers attract bees and other pollinators.

Fruit:

Fruit, do you know that some plants have fruits on them instead of a flower but some of them have both.

Functions of Fruit:

  • Fruits prevent seeds from drying and to disperse the seed.
  • Fresh fruits, like tomatoes and apples, hold juices that prevent them from drying until they are mature.

Thanks so much for visiting!! STAY SAFE :)
