After that for many years, different mathematical calculations were done by surveyors to make sure that it’s height has been measured correctly. Finally in 1856, it’s height was announced as 8839.8 meters by British. George Everest was the Surveyor General leading the survey team. So after his name, the mountain was named as Mount Everest.
